Industry Advocacy Group · St. Louis, MO
Incorporated in 2008, Missouri Women In Trades (MOWIT) began with a group of tradeswomen and their supporters organizing to provide support to each other and seeking a way to create more opportunity for women in the industry. These tradeswomen enjoy the work but find that support from other women is important to facing the challenges of the industry. They also know that the industry is expecting worker shortages and that many women are seeking good paying careers from which they can support themselves and their families. In September 2006, MOWIT began holding monthly support and networking meetings for tradeswomen and aspiring tradeswomen.

Animal Rescue Organization · Saint Louis, MO
We are home to the Animal Cruelty Task Force, which responds to calls from throughout the State of Missouri of suspected animal abuse and neglect. Often working with local law enforcement, we remove animals from danger and prosecute abusers. We have more than 150 farm animals at our Longmeadow Rescue Ranch in Union, Missouri, that are being rehabilitated and cared for while they wait for their forever homes. At any given time, around half of that number is equines. We believe in teaching empathy toward all living things to children and do so through our many education programs, including summer camps, the Shelter Buddy reading program, and numerous field trips and school visits. We also believe that pet overpopulation is a major threat to the safety and well-being of pets and people in our community. We started Operation SNIP in 2001 to offer low-cost spay/neuter services to owned pets in our region, and all pets that are rescued and adopted through our shelters are spayed or neutered. We offer state-of-the-art veterinary services at our Animal Medical Centers of Mid-America, the largest veterinary practice in Missouri. Our services include wellness packages for puppies and kittens through adulthood, innovative surgical services, and an Integrated Pain Management Center for physical therapy and weight loss support. Finally, we are the largest animal shelter in Missouri, placing between seven and nine thousand pets in forever homes each year. Find out ways to support the work we do and help us give all animals the second chances they deserve.
